Obituary

Shreveport, LA- A Life Celebration to honor Linda Kay Benfield Atkins will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Brother Mike Igo will officiate. The Family will receive visitors on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral Home.

Linda Kay Benfield Atkins was born November 10, 1943 in Shreveport, LA, the first child of C. A. (Benny) Benfield, Jr and Marie Thompson Benfield. She was a graduate of Fair Park High School in 1961 where she met her husband, Allen Carey Atkins. They were happily married for 54 years. After the passing of her parents Linda became the mother, friend, and caretaker to all those she loved. She worked for many years as a paralegal at Hicks, Hubley, and Marcotte Law Firm. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening, and was known for her keen sense of humor but most of all her passion in life was her family. She hosted many a holiday dinner in her home for family and friends. She touched many lives with her kindness, ability to give and serve of herself to all who knew and loved her. She was a precious soul and she will be sadly missed and always remembered. She was called to her heavenly home on Monday May 23, 2016. There will always be a special place in our hearts for Linda Kay.

Linda was preceeded in death by her parents and her nephew, Gary Wayne McKaskle, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Allen Carey Atkins, Sr., two sons, Allen Carey Atkins, Jr. and Brian Christopher Atkins, four grandchildren, Chris Atkins, Michael Atkins, Hailey Atkins, and Corey Atkins, and one great-granddaughter, Hope Atkins. She was also survived by three sisters, Sherrie B. Simpson, Janie B. Savat, and Polly B. McKaskle, and brother, Patrick A. Benfield.
