David Wolfe (1942 - 2015)
Funeral services for David Lee Wolfe, 72, of Waskom, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Waskom with Bro. Eric Peyton officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., today at Downs Funeral Home in Marshall.

David Lee Wolfe passed from this life on Monday, March 2, 2015, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

David was born November 16, 1942, to Albert Eugene and Nellie Arzy Wolfe in Newcastle, Wyoming. He grew up in Sheridan, Wyoming and Roundup, Montana, before attending the University of Northern Colorado, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts. While attending the university, he met and married Janet, his wife of 50 years. After marriage and graduation, they moved to Canada to pursue a teaching career and begin family life. Both children, Danny and Michelle, were born during their time in Canada.

The family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1970 and eventually settled in Waskom, Texas in 1972. David was raised with a tremendous work ethic that was evident his entire life. He was a master cabinet maker, an industrial arts teacher, a general contractor, and a waste water contractor. He loved to work with his hands, and he loved to work outdoors. He built several houses, including his own, and was the person in the community that many people called when they needed something built or fixed. He was known throughout the area for his quality workmanship and ethical business practices.

His greatest passion was serving his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Waskom for 42 years and served as a deacon for 34 years. He always helped those in need by donating services, hiring people when they needed a job, and offering work to those wanting a hand-out. He was a loyal friend, and an honest, hard-working business man. He had a profound impact on his family and friends and leaves a legacy of faith, love, integrity, and character.

He is survived by his mother, Nellie; wife, Janet; brother, Charles; two children, Danny (Esther) and Michelle (Richard); six grandchildren, Tyler (Carlin), Bobbie, Jenny, Hannah, Ethan and Nathan; three great-grandchildren, Court, Dean, and Myles; many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Albert; his brother, Robert; and his nephew, Greg.

Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of First Baptist Church Waskom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church Waskom Building Fund, 185 Colquitt St, Waskom, TX 75692
