SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for John Earl Newberry, 69, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Sonny DePrang and Dr. Tom Carleton. Interment will follow in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the funeral home. John was born on April 27, 1943 to James and Gloria Newberry and passed away on June 19, 2012. In 1961 he graduated from Fair Park High School and then attended college at Northwestern State University. He hosted a morning radio show on KBCL. He was a life-long resident of Shreveport. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp fighting in the Vietnam War and played defensive tackle on the USMC football team. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by daughters, Ashley and Beth Newberry; grandchildren, Parker and Ella Tracy; siblings, Ron Newberry and wife, Judy, Carla Cook, Sheila Chavis and husband, Rodger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Heinshon, Hollis Thompson, Rodger Chavis, Jay Murrell, and Tim Butler.
