Note From Camilla Fulco Doughty

Camilla sent this note for posting on the blog...

A while back I signed up and was active on Facebook. Now I don't have a clue as to how and when I did it. However, lately I have been getting messages from people who want me to confirm they are my friends. Some of the names I recognize as classmates, but other names I do not recognize. My problem is I have tried to confirm them as friends and resign up but the process to do so seems to grow each time. It has become more trouble than I have time to handle. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I really do not have time for Facebook. It seems there are forms, and gifts, and all sorts of things that go along with it, but that's not of interest to me. Thanks.

Prayers Requested

Helen Lindsay Rigg sent this note in response to a request for prayers from Sammie Lowe Beasley for her son...

Sammie Lowe asked me to let you know her son is under hospice care and today they were told he is reaching the end. The cancer has reached his brain and he is asleep most of the time. Sammie asked for prayers and I promised to pass this on.

Thanks Helen. There is nothing harder to go through than the illness of one of your children. I stopped in the middle of preparing this posting and prayed for Sammie, her son, and her family. I trust others will also pray for Sammie and her family at this difficult time.

FPHS 1961 50th Reunion - Help Needed

Jerry Cook prepared the following request for help finding missing classmates. If you can help, please do.

________________________________________

The 50th Reunion date set for Friday, April 1 and 2, 2011, is getting closer and closer each day. Your reunion committee is working hard to have the best reunion possible. One of the ways to have a great reunion is to have a great turnout. The committee has been diligently trying to find our classmates that have moved, changed e-mail addresses, or gone to cell phone only usage. Recently we sent out 236 postcards to classmates without e-mail. Unfortunately 34 of those postcards were returned because of bad or no forwarding address. Those 34 addresses were good when the first reunion mail out was done last year. We are asking you to help us find and inform our lost/misplaced classmates to enable them to share in our great time.

I am sure you possibly have a high school friend or relative you keep in touch with occasionally. Maybe you know their brother or sister or cousin that you could call and get their information (such as e-mail, phone, address, etc.) to enable us to contact them with reunion information and updates. OR, the easiest and best way to send us this information is to have them go Check our Web site for all class related information at http://www.fairpark1961.net/.

The new feature on the class web site that is most important is the online address update process (it is located in the top center of the main page, right under the logo). Please use this for updating your information as well. It only takes a few moments to fill out the form. The more we can do to get classmates using the web site and reading the blog, the greater role it can play in keeping our classmates informed. Bill Scott has done a fantastic job creating and maintaining the class web site. Visit the web site to keep up to date on the latest information.

We will update you as we make more progress with the reunion planning. This is going to be the biggest and best one yet. Those of you who come will have a great time and we ask for the support "from afar" from those of you who for reasons of health or family situations will not be able to come. We will be thinking of you and hope that those of you who can will contact us so that we will know that "you are planning to be there". If you have not sent us notice of your intent to attend, please e-mail Jerry Cook (jdcook01@bellsouth.net) and get added to our "will attend" list ASAP.

Looking forward to seeing you April 1st, 2011,
Your Reunion Committee:

Help Needed

We've been told that '61 classmate Virginia Ferguson Flavin passed away in 2006. However, at the moment that's all we know. If you have any information about her death that might help us find an obituary for her please pass that along to Betty Molcany Barber, or to me. Betty's email address is in the Class Email Directory. You can email me by using the News Link. Thanks.
