BOSSIER CITY, LA - A graveside service for Armor Shaw McIlwain, 89, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 At Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Chaplain Buck Furlow and Rev. Dale Sauls. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Armor, known to everyone as "Mamaw", was born July 21, 1921 in Oakdale, LA to William and Lizzy Long Shaw and died September 1, 2010 in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of First Baptist Blanchard and was a retired cosmetician from Eckerd Drug. Mamaw had a deep devotion to her family and was willing to do anything for them. Her love for Christ and for others was often shown through homemade cakes and pies, as well as in her willingness to open her home. Through the years, she hosted countless missionaries, preachers, friends and church groups. She was a faithful giver to the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission and donated many hand-sewn items for hospice patients.
Her husband, Eugene Kelly McIlwain preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Deanna Mitchell and husband Robert, III, Judy Crofton and husband David; grandchildren, John Crofton and wife Deniese, Sheri Martin and husband Sam, Misty Lazarus and husband Jason, Kelly Covington and great-grandchildren, Noah and Max Crofton, Doug Pierce, Drew Martin and Allie, Emma Grace, Cade and Jase Lazarus.
