Congratulations to Kenneth and Linda on their marriage July 28, 2008. They were married and spent their honeymoon in Fort Smith, AR. They will now live in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.
The class sends their Love and Best Wishes to Kenneth and Linda. May you have many blessed years together.
We also would like to send our sincere sympathy to Linda and her family on the August 16, 2008 death of Linda's brother, Doyle McDaniel. Doyle was Linda's only sibling and now that leaves only Linda and her 85 year old Mother. So instead of it just being Linda and her Mother alone they now have Kenneth there to help them both at this time of need.
Linda, you and your family are certainly in our prayers at this time on the loss of Doyle. May God bless each of you.

Betty Sims Rose
It looks like there is a wedding in the makings for Betty and Frank Gillespie, on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Betty is so excited and Frank is too!
Frank is from Tucson, AZ. He has two grown children, Parrish (Tucson Policeman) and Tara ( a homemaker), and both live in Tucson. Betty says Frank moved to Dallas in February of this year to be closer to her as she will not live anywhere that is not close to her grand babies.
They will have a small wedding/reception at a friend's house (Fannie) in Frisco, TX. Donna and Fannie who are both close friends of Betty's are doing all the planning and all she and Frank need do on that special day is show up to say the "I Do's". They were planning on getting married in the preacher's study and be done with it , but Donna and Fannie and the rest of Betty's friends just would not hear of that. So the special wedding plans are on.
Congratulations Betty and Frank. May God Bless you both with many happy and healthy years together. See Betty, it's never too late to say "I do" to a nice man. Keep us posted on the honeymoon plans. We all might show up to greet you.

John & Sue Scott Gough
Sue sent an update on her husband John who has been a very sick man for many weeks. She also wanted to say thank you for all your prayers for John. They both appreciate the prayers, thoughts, cards and emails they have received during his illness.
John's lung appointment Friday went well and his doctor said John is doing so much better. He is feeling well enough that he plans on going to church with Sue on Sunday. That's how determined John is to get well and thank God at the same time.
Sue and John will still host their 3rd family reunion on Labor Day weekend for the family members who are able to come. They will also host the Red Hatters Swim Party this week at their home.

Don & Shirley Baldwin Chandler
Don and Shirley will celebrate their 43rd Wedding Anniversary on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Shirley says that since they have known each other since they were 10 years old that means 53 years of putting up with one other. She says they are so different from each other that their friends just shake their heads in wonder. She says also that they just balance each other out. How sweet are those words!
Don and Shirley, thanks for sharing the date of this special occasion with the class and we all wish you a Happy Anniversary, and may you have many more Happy Anniversaries to come. God Bless you both in the coming years.

Mini Reunion 2008
To the classmates of Fair Park High School, Class of 1961, there is a mini- reunion being planned for October 25, 2008 (Sat.) This will be # 47 for the class. How exciting is that?
The details for this mini-reunion will be available within the next week. The reunion will take place at the Holidome in West Shreveport. We will have a private room and meal all on the same day. This seems to be the most convenient place for everyone as you can also arrange for a room for the night at the hotel. If we have 15 or more who plan on staying at the hotel they will give us a special room rate. So that is something to keep in mind as you make your plans to attend. All that information will be included in the next email.
There are no fancy plans at this time for the reunion other than to enjoy each other's company and have a good meal together. Dress casually. So please take the time to read the next email and respond to it ASAP. 'Money' will be required this time to rent the party room and for the meal. This is so much more convenient to have it all in the same place. You will have about 6 weeks to confirm your reservation for the meal. We need everyone to come for the meal if possible...That is part of the reunion also.
We were pleasantly surprised last year when over 125 folks showed up for our mini-reunion, so we hope to have the same or more this year. Please let the classmates that did not attend last year know about this mini-reunion. Please spread the news today. This reunion is for you and we hope to see you there!!!!!
