Robin & Carolyn Holliday Eichner

Carolyn’s Father will celebrate his 86th birthday on August 9, 2008. To celebrate Robin and Carolyn are taking him to a cabin in the high mountain area of Wallowa Lake, Oregon. Carolyn said it is so beautiful up there and that is where Mr. Holliday wanted to go for his birthday.

After three days at the cabin the family will head to Washington state for the wedding of Robin and Carolyn's granddaughter Tawnee Lane to Matt Gutzmer. The day after the wedding they will return home to Oregon. That should be a nice five day mini-vacation, birthday celebration, and wedding trip for all of them.

Please have a safe trip Carolyn and Robin and congratulations on the granddaughter’s wedding. We also would like to wish Mr. Holliday a very happy 86th birthday. May he have many more happy and healthy birthdays.

Pat Hayes Smay

Pat's Mother just got out of Schumpert Hospital after a weeks stay. Mrs. Hayes is 86 years old and still lives at home with Pat's brother, Russell. Mrs. Hayes was having a little difficulty and Pat decided she needed to take her to the hospital where they admitted her for the weeks care.

Pat is going over to her Mom's house daily to help with physical therapy and doing some cleaning and good home cooking for her Mom and Russell. Pat is an excellent cook and that is also good therapy for Mrs. Hayes. Now all Mrs. Hayes asks is, "what's next for supper?" That brings a smile to Pat's face.

Pat, please keep us posted on how your Mom is doing. The class sends their thoughts and prayers to you, Mrs. Hayes, and Russell.

John & Sue Scott Gough

Sue's  husband John has been very sick and just got out of the hospital after almost a two week stay. John went in with chest pains and severe breathing problems and the doctors found that he had experienced a light heart attack.

Sue brought John home this weekend and he is able to walk around the house without his walker, but is using a cane. A house full of children and grandchildren welcomed John home and that always brings a smile to his face. Family is good medicine for John and Sue.

Sue and John, the class would like to send our thoughts and prayers to you over the coming weeks in the hope that John gets stronger as the days go by. May God bless you both.

Faye Hammons Bailey

Faye has not been feeling well for a few weeks. A trip to the doctor revealed that she has a small blood clot behind her knee. She is now on blood thinner medication and is getting lots of bed rest. That seems to be helping her feel a little better.

Faye you are in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Hopefully you'll be up and about very soon. Please keep us posted.

On The Road Again...

Bill Roberts is “on the road again” with a group of his HOG members from FL. They are headed to Milwaukee for the Harley 105th Anniversary Celebration. They are taking the scenic route to Milwaukee which will keep them traveling for about four days. First, they will head to the Natchez Trace Parkway in MS since a few in the group have never been on the Trace. Once the Trace ride is completed, they will head north towards the big birthday party. After the party is over they will head north again around Lake Michigan with a stop over in Canada to take pictures. Then its back to FL. All total the trip will take about 15 days.

Bill says he is really looking forward to this ride and is sorry that some classmates who are still working can't go too. You go for all of us Bill, but do be careful around all that fun.

Garland Ware Moellenkamp

Garland and her sister Betty just returned from a wonderful four day trip with their church group to Branson, MO. There were two buses of folks from the church totaling 84 in all who made the trip. It was a very good group to have fun with.

Everyone enjoyed a new entertainment facility at Branson called the Sight and Sound Theatre. The theatre depicts different Bible events and was doing Noah and the Ark while Garland and Betty were there. Garland said it was so beautiful that if you are ever up that way be sure and check it out. The theatre is available on the Branson website along with information on what is playing at different times.

They also saw the Twelve Irish Tenor singers who were excellent along with the SIX brothers who were also very good. The Brett Family, a variety show at the Branson Showboat, provided a nice dinner show. Garland said they ate and ate and were not sure which was the best, the show or the food. It was such a good time for everyone that Garland and Betty are excited about going again. They are just waiting for the next bus trip heading that way.

After returning home and resting a few days Garland and her husband Jim met Sue Judd Ross and her husband Lyle for supper at a local Cracker Barrel restaurant and really enjoyed their time together. Sue and Lyle have built a new home in the past few months in the local area and will now be a lot closer to Garland than when they were living in AR.

Thanks for the news Garland and letting us know about all the entertainment in Branson. Hope you and Sue can spend more time together now that she is closer. It's nice to see you enjoying your lifelong friendships so much.

Jim & Sue Roark Henderson

Sue and Jim have moved back to Florida after a brief stay in Tennessee. They loved living in Florida all those years so much they could hardly wait to move back. They have settled into their new home and are very comfortable.

Sue says her joy today is bird watching in her front yard. So far she has seen Wrens, Blue Jays, and Cardinals. Sue says her area must be the Cardinal capital. She has also seen Chickadees, Doves, and four species of Woodpeckers: Pileated, Red-breasted, Red-headed, and either a Hairy or a Downy Woodpecker. Until they arrived at the new house she had never seen a Red-headed Woodpecker, or a Bluebird.

The next thing going up in the yard is a Hummingbird feeder. Sue was looking out the window the other day and a little Hummingbird flew up to the window. It appeared to be watching her just as she was watching it, so she knows for sure there are Hummingbirds in the area.

Sue said her Mom use to watch the birds and had a real love for them. Sue was only seven when her Mom died, but said her Mom had taught her so many good traits she must have also passed along her love for the birds.

Sue was wondering if there were any 'birders' (bird watchers) among our classmates. If so please contact Sue for some fun bird talk.

Thanks Sue for the nice update on your new home and your bird watching activities. Keep watching all the pretty birds for us. It's so interesting and good for a smile and to pass time for sure.

Edsel & Judy Pace Smith

Judy and Edsel just celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to San Antonio, TX.

Judy said that some of their cousins got together with them while they were there and treated the two of them like royalty. The cousins did make their anniversary so very special for them. It was also a very relaxing time for everyone. They all slept late, took naps when needed, and ate entirely too much.

Judy says it was such a fun four days and nights and they really enjoyed the time with the family and each other. She said they are so blessed to have the good health that they both share at this time and thank the Lord nightly for allowing these past years to be good ones for them.

They are also blessed with a very handsome son, Wayne, who lives in Central Louisiana so he is able to visit his Mom and Dad every chance he and his family have the time to. Of course, Judy and Edsel enjoy seeing and visiting with Wayne on all the occasions he visits them. He has been a real love to both of them his whole life and he loves his Mom and Dad very much also.

So to Edsel and Judy your classmates from Fair Park High School Class of 1961 wish you both a very Happy Anniversary 2008. May you have many more healthy and happy ones in the future. God Bless always.
